Hello! My name is Claire Shadomy.
A professional doodler and a totally confident skeptic. I specialize in simple illustrations that overflow with life.
Oh, and dogs too. Lots of dogs.
I’m a 25 year old living in Asheville, NC. I am less than a year into my professional art career (ie. actually having a job that pays me to make art and not nannying crying children.) So I would say I’m at the beginning of my journey. Someone I really look up to once told me that your life doesn’t start until after you graduate college so I’m only 3 years into my "life".
I would say as a person I am very sensitive and try to be considerate of the people around me, but I also have a nihilistic comedic side. As an artist I am passionate and always looking for new ways to express myself.
I work for a company in Asheville called Seltzer Goods. I am the illustrator there are jr. graphic designer. I spend my days drawing images for greeting cards (much cooler than hallmark), tote bags and everything in-between.
As far as routines I try to go to barre class at least three times a week and I am a controversial vegan so that’s always exciting haha. I wish I had more of a beauty routine. I love everything from Glossier! My favorite product is their lip tint in Poppy. I also spend my free time making personal art and I participate in art markets all over Asheville.
I received my art degree at UNC Asheville with a concentration in drawing. While I was attending school I hated it but in hindsight I appreciate everything I went through and the struggles I had. I think it has made me a more determined and driven person.
It can be challenging to find a balance between work and my personal art. And keeping a steady job that pays well that allows me to be creative everyday. I have too many dreams! I want to do everything, and by everything I mean travel and make tons of art.
I am obsessed with the Kardashians and Jenn Gotch (who isn’t). Kaye Blegvad is one of my current favorite artists. But let's be real, there are too many to name.
Remember to make art everyday even if it’s a doodle on a napkin. Never stop being curious.
